Repainted

I came out here to live,
To burn bridges,
Play with fire.
To breathe in the smoke.

I came out here to gulp life,
Slurp it through a straw,
To drink pretend wine while lying
By the fire and being poetry.

I heard gunshots in the distance.
Deer scattered in redneck heaven.
I came out here to light a fire in me,
To find a way to burn infinitely.

And everything came.
Peace, air to breathe,
A fire to warm me.
Realizations.

Everything was there.
I was refreshed.
Renewed.
Reborn.

Repainted.
